A passion for construction that became a family story

The story of Groupe Roussel SM inc. began long before the company was founded. It starts with its owner and founder, Stéphane Moisan Roussel, who discovered his passion for construction at a very young age.

Stéphane took his first steps on construction sites at just 15. At 18, determined to turn this passion into a career, he began his training as a carpenter-joiner in Laval, where he earned his diploma.

He then worked for three companies in the Laurentians, gaining experience and refining his craft. Always eager to learn more, he later left the region and moved to Sherbrooke, where he continued his career in construction and further developed his expertise.

Back to his roots

In 2019, Stéphane made an important decision: to return to the Laurentians to be closer to his family.

This return also marked the beginning of a new chapter. Drawing on years of experience in the field, he obtained his general contractor licence and founded Groupe Roussel SM.

The name was no accident. For Stéphane, a company is more than contracts, tools and job sites. A company is, above all, a team and a family. That value is still very much alive today, with two of his brothers working alongside him in the business.

From small projects to major transformations

Since its founding, Groupe Roussel SM inc. has completed a wide variety of projects: bathroom renovations, residential transformations, home additions, structural work and complex custom projects.

Over the years, the company has stood out for its ability to find solutions where projects present unique challenges. Work that others consider too complex or difficult is exactly the kind of challenge Stéphane and his team enjoy taking on. Their goal remains the same: to find a solution that is safe, durable and carried out with precision.

The team even completed a truly out-of-the-ordinary project: building a staircase down to a lake, in a spot so hard to reach that some of the work required rappelling techniques.

It is this adaptability, combined with years of experience, that allows Groupe Roussel SM inc. to take on projects as varied as they are ambitious.

Always learning to build better

For Stéphane, experience never means you stop learning. He regularly takes training courses and professional updates to stay current with industry standards, construction methods and requirements.

Since 2025, Groupe Roussel SM inc. has also been accredited with the Garantie de construction résidentielle (GCR), an important milestone in the company's growth.

Today, Groupe Roussel SM inc. continues to grow in the Laurentians, guided by the same values it had from the very beginning: family, quality workmanship, trust, precision and a drive to take on challenges.
